Yesterday I was invited to the "Festival des Mètiers"-Fair by Hèrmes in Düsseldorf! It is such an exclusive and extraordinary noble sartorial-brand with a long cherished tradition. Hèrmes startet in 1837 as saddlery - founder Dietrich Hermes moved after his apprenticeship to Paris, the city of Love, in order to enlarge his customer base. Since then he called himself Thierry Hèrmes and moved his company from horses to luxurious and wealthy clients! Producing the finest scarfs (carées) and the most wanted international It-Bags (with waiting lists up to 10 years!), Hèrmes is nowadays one of the most significant international manufacturers of luxury goods!
And there is pure craftsmanship behind it! Hèrmes presented its handwork during the "Festival of Métiers" in Düsseldorf and made it possible to have a look over the artisan's shoulder, who came from all ateliers all over Europe (Paris, Lyon, Nizza, Zürich). Bag makers, porcelain painters, clock makers, saddler, and much more high-quality workers have come all the way in order to present their art! This was an incredible possibility to come close to the action and to get a detailed look! Lots of Love, Kyra
